If you think back to the most comfortable bed you’ve ever slept in I can bet one thing comes to mind… Sheets! When it comes to having the perfect storm to lull you into a deep sleep the perfect set of sheets is equally as important as the right mattress. I mean who wants to go to bed on a crappy set of sheets that feel like they’re on their last leg.
Basically finding the right set of sheets is one of the hardest versions of Russian roulette that you’ll ever play, hence my hesitation when I realized our white sheets were past the point of no return and it was time for a new set. Knowing how difficult my hunt had been the last time, I did what any normal person would do… I moved on and forgot about it!
A few months later I felt like someone from sleepy town was smiling down on me when California Design Den reached out wanting to work together on this post. After researching their brand and products I knew they would be a perfect fit for not only P.A.D as a brand but all of you guys as well, so I said YES.
Disclaimer: Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the sheets I first want to say that I am a 100% cotton girl through and through. There is nothing I love more than slipping into a bed of cold crisp sheets! If you’re also riding the 100% cotton wagon then you will love them but if you love silky sheets then these are not for you, plain and simple.
Just like any other post all of the opinions are 100% my own and I will never promote a company that I don’t believe to be a good fit for our brand and readers.
Within a few days of speaking with their wonderful rep Pranita, I received my new sheet set (praise you Amazon Prime) you see California Design Den is a company that sells on Amazon so the 2-day prime shipping was a much-appreciated perk!
The sheets arrived just as described and here are a few of the product details.
- 100% Long Staple Cotton
- 400 Thread Count
- Elasticized Fitted Sheet
- Finished deep pocket to fit mattresses from 9″ to 18″
- Deep Pocket fitted sheet feature Smart Head/Foot Tag to indicate the width side of the bottom fitted sheet for ease of use.
- They also have tons of color options for those of you that aren’t into white sheets.
Insider Tip: Now I’m sure some may scoff at the idea of 400 thread count sheets being amazing but let me tell you why everything you’ve probably heard about thread count is false…
First, what is thread count? It is defined as yarn per square inch.
Thread count should never be used as the only way to determine quality. It is not the end all be all, in fact, it is a marketing tactic created in the mid-1990s to early 2000’s when the very first sheet set labeled 1000 thread count was marketed. Even if a set of sheets is labeled with a high thread count it could have easily been inflated by manipulating the sheet manufacturing process so when it comes to thread count everything is not always what it seems. Yes, 100% keep thread count in mind but it shouldn’t be the only thing used to determine sheet quality.
As a good rule of thumb go for sheets with thread counts in this range: above 200 and under 800 as anything above really doesn’t matter.
The package also included a card that tells you exactly how to care for them, due to the 100% cotton material it is important not to overdry because you can actually scorch the sheets which is something I never knew!
So after washing and drying I wanted to compare them to my all time favorite set although they were worn out and stained (perks of four-year-old white sheets), I was seriously shocked by the fact that not only did the new sheets look better they actually felt like a much better quality than my more expensive set.
The set included a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillowcases. We have a pretty deep mattress so the elastic all the way around the fitted sheet was a must and surprisingly we had plenty of room left over. The pillowcases were the same way, there was plenty of room for our king size pillows with room to spare in case we ever want to go extra fluffy!
But would they pass the ultimate test…. a nights sleep?
As of today, we have slept on the sheets now for five nights and I can honestly say I love them!
They are so comfortable and breathable, I haven’t woke up once in the middle of the night sweating and they even won the hard to attain seal of approval from the hubs! 🙂
Overall we’re both very happy with the sheets (even a bit shocked that they were this good) and from now on this set will be our go-to the next time we need affordable sheets.
In a few months, I will be sure to update this post and let you know exactly how they’re holding up. Don’t forget you can save this post for later by pinning the image below.
