Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites! Where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way.
This week I have had one thing on the brain… our living room! This room is under my skin big time and even though I should be coming up with design plans for the guest bedroom right about now. Our living room will end up being a total scrap and we will have to start from the beginning minus some of the decor pieces in our built-ins, so it will undoubtedly cost more money and take more time but I want it done already. Considering I only have a little over one month to finish I better figure out what the next move is and fast.
When you are in the process of transforming your home it is so hard not to be impatient and wish you could just snap your fingers and be done but I encourage you (and myself) to take your time, you will be so grateful you did in the end. This week’s list is totally inspired by items I would love to have in our new living room as well as a couple of things I have purchased already. Since hubby hinted to me yesterday that we may be able to do it pretty soon I have been flooded with ideas and I cannot wait until we can get the ball rolling so I can show you what we want to do! Although soon probably means after we finish the guest room, I should have made him clarify.

Parallel Framed Art: Something about this piece just draws me in, I think it reminds me of the shibori technique used on tons of home decor pieces lately. The wall that the sofa sits on is gigantic so I have come to the conclusion that a gallery wall is going to be our best bet to fill the space. This would look amazing with the gold sunburst mirror from last week!
Everly Lamp Set: Since we redone our master bedroom I have had a hard time finding a set of lamps I love for our living room. When the space is updated there will be a lot of neutrals present so I think these lamps would add the perfect pop of color to the mix. Plus do you see that brass peeking out? Also it comes as a set of two which couldn’t be more perfect!
Jolene Throw Blanket: One thing I probably haven’t shared yet is my total obsession with throw blankets. Wayne will probably tell you it is actually a problem and I need to seek professional help. Anytime we go anywhere that sells something remotely close to a throw blanket we always end up coming home with one or four. This one is actually one of my favorites and the tassels have my heart.
Tortoise Shell Statue: With the change of our living room also comes the change of our built-ins. For that, we would like things to look more modern and stay in line with the whites, grays, and blues. This is the perfect way to add height and texture when styling built-ins or anything for that matter. You can add in things of varying heights or add this to a collection on a tray to give it a more put together look.
Sally Cabinet: Our fireplace is ginormous and the layout of our living room causes the fireplace to be the only practical place to put the T.V. There is only one problem, there are no outlets on the fireplace and the closest one is about 6 feet away. Currently, we have a gadget of some sort that has one piece that attaches to the tv and one to the receiver, it then allows you to hide your box because it transmits the signal. So we currently have the boxes on the bottom of the built-ins, which isn’t the best look. Between our built-ins, there is a small nook where we currently have a chair sitting and we plan to put a cabinet of some sort there to hold all of our tv electronics. Which will help that side of the built-ins look cleaner since the boxes would be completely hidden in the cabinet. I love the natural wood tones of this one and the detail on the doors. It is also the perfect size for the little nook.
Last weekend we worked in the yard, we still have several things to do before it’s finished like sand/ stain our bench, paint the front door and replace the rug. We are hoping to knock at least a few of those off the list one day this weekend. Also over the past month or so I have really been working on my time management skills which were pretty much nonexistent, I was spending entirely too much time on things that really didn’t matter and putting the important things off. Do you have any great ideas or tips for managing your time? If so I would love to hear about anything you do to save time or make things run smoother in your home. Lord knows I need all the help I can get in that department! 🙂
I hope you all found some inspiration from this week’s list! Sunday is mother’s day, so happy mother’s day to each and every one of you! Take the time to enjoy your day and spend time with the ones you love. Also, don’t forget to pin the image below!
