Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites, where I talk about things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way. This week when we decided to begin the room makeover for our Modern Coastal Boys Room but there was one huge thing we had to do first, clean out the room! At some point it became a literal dumping ground for things we weren’t using and all of my “oh I need it now” decor purchases that were never used! So we took every single thing out of the bedroom to go through it and the moment that I had all of this stuff staring back at me seriously made me reevaluate what we allow into our home.
In my defense tons of this stuff was purchased a very long time ago when I was on my “fill the space” kick but at some point, it got completely out of control. So one by one we will be going through every single room in our home and chunking 90% of the things we do not need or use. If we haven’t seen it in six months we not going to miss it.
Once we finish purging our entire house I am going to make it a huge goal to never let our home become “weighed down” again. There is absolutely no way anyone can feel happy and content inside a house full of clutter. Taking the time to go through everything is no doubt going to be a massive job but it didn’t magically appear overnight. If I could give myself one quality it would definitely be to become more organized but hey we are who we are right?
This week I have found so many items that caught my eye while searching for things for the makeover.

Tufted Chair: When it comes to tufted chairs I have absolutely no control and if we had a bigger house we would definitely have more tufted chairs around. They are such a beautiful addition to any space and it totally brings your style factor up a notch. This one is a little bit more than I usually pay but I would definitely save up for it because it’s that gorgeous.
Marble Cake Stand: Oh my goodness you guys is this not the most beautiful cake stand ever? Using these in the kitchen as a place to corral items is a great idea and will help your counters look less cluttered.
Rattan Mirror: You can never have too many mirrors. This rattan option is a great size and this is a great way to add a natural element to your decor. It also adds another layer of texture, which is the key to making any room come to life.
Gayle Pendant: Okay this literally stopped me dead in my tracks you guys! I have seen pendants similar to this in some of the most famous designer’s kitchens but the price tag would make me cringe. So I was shocked when I saw that this one came in several hundred dollars cheaper.
Hastings Pillow: Pillows are probably one of my favorite things to buy. This one has a textured look and would go great with the shibori style pillows that are so popular right now. When searching for pillows for Jons room this one was a big contender.
For the next few weeks, I hope to be able to go through at least one area every single day and once I finish hopefully I will have a better idea of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to decluttering so I can give you all some tips you can use in your own homes.
