Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites! Where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way. Lately, I have been feeling very off and far from creative, I’m not sure if it is because we have been so busy or maybe all of the changes that have been taking place in our home but I absolutely cannot stay focused.
Over the years I have become so engrossed in my job and things that are happening in our lives that I do not take enough time for myself. Typically most people take vacations and go somewhere to relax but most of the time my “vacations” consist of strict schedules and chaos which makes it almost impossible for me to relax and usually I end up wishing I could take a vacation from my vacation. Any of you ever feel that way? After years of this, I can feel my mind and my body screaming at me ” You need to get away”.
Since I can’t just run off on vacation right now I am going to make a conscious effort to truly relax a little bit and see if I can get my mojo back. I think it is so easy for us to get so caught up in taking care of everyone else and their needs that we forget to take care of ourselves. No, I am not saying I am super mom and do everything for everyone but sometimes my to-do list can become very overwhelming. Include a full-time job and a blog and there isn’t much left when it is all done.
What are some things you do to relax and get your focus back when you begin feeling like this? Do you have certain places that you go or certain things you do to keep yourself sane? If so I would love to hear about them and any other suggestions that worked for you.
This has honestly started to affect my everyday life and I am more than ready to feel like myself again soon.
For example, I am now on rug number three for our living area which has never happened to me before. Typically I pick it out, it looks good and I move on to the next thing. But for some reason, my design brain seems turned off at the moment and that can be a huge problem for me especially since the sole purpose of this blog is to inspire. How can I inspire others when I am not feeling inspired myself? So fingers crossed I get my act together and actually spend some time doing things that I enjoy!
This week’s list was extra fun for me and I absolutely love all of the wonderful goodies I have found.

Mesmerize Print: Is this not absolutely gorgeous? I love all of the beautiful colors and something about it just speaks to me. The awesome thing about Minted is the have many options of frames and you can customize it to fit your home, or you can always just buy the print and frame it yourself. Either way, the selection of fine art prints they have is hands down one of the best around and this one just so happens to be my favorite.
Sasha Bench: This bench is so adorable and the spindle style legs are trendy and fun. You could use this at the foot of the bed, an entryway for some seating or even in front of a sofa as a coffee table/ottoman.
Mamrie Lamp: As you know I have been on the hunt for a pair of lamps for our new living area. There are so many things I love about this one like the brass accent and the shape. The price is a little higher than I would like but I have learned over the years sometimes it is just best to invest in a few quality pieces you will love for years to come than purchase things you will be replacing in six months.
Gulvason Sconce: For as long as I can remember I have loved the color gold and anything brass. As a child, my grandmother had an obsession with gold. Gold purse, gold shoes, gold jacket, gold car, you get the picture. Maybe that is why I was so excited when gold and brass started making a comeback on the home decor scene. After spending so much time with our home full of decor that ended up not being “us” at all I have come to the realization that it is just best to purchase things you love no matter what the current trends are. This swing arm sconce is priced extremely well and these look great above a gallery wall or built-ins highlighting a display.
Pattie Rug: Since I am on rug number 5,498 I have come across so many gorgeous rugs over the past several weeks and this is one of them. I love the soft muted color and beautiful pattern, we are using lots of navy, white and gray in our color palette or I would totally go with this one for our space. The price is also amazing!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and feel free to leave in the comments any traditions or suggestions you have that help you to decompress and relax. Also, don’t forget to show some love and pin the image below!

Oh, Ashley! We all have days (weeks, months!) like this….I know I have! I bet you are taking care of everyone but yourself- typical mama/woman thing to do and its exhausting. Is there any way you can get away just for a weekend? Sometimes just a couple of days just to unplug is enough to recharge. On another note, your Favorites are spot on, as usual! Love that sconce and want to use it for our library when we update later this year for the One Room Challenge, so definitely pinning this for later! Take care of yourself, sweet friend!

Thank you so much, Beth! I have literally been pushing myself too hard lately and at some point, somethings got to give. Over the weekend I tried very hard to get as much rest as possible and spent the entire day watching movies Saturday. The house and laundry struggled but honestly I have found when I am like this I don’t get much accomplished anyway. It is definitely time for me to reevaluate my life. Hopefully, we will be able to get away sometime soon.
