Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way. The weather here has been in the 100’s this week and believe me when I tell you, your girl is melting! 🙂 If you have never been to Oklahoma in the middle of July then you probably think “oh that’s not bad” but we’re talking the kind of heat that makes your makeup drip down your face! My poor hubby works out in that mess too so usually we stay indoors as much as possible in the late summer.
If you recall I told you last week how I had been feeling off and hadn’t been getting much sleep, well the past week has been so much better for me! Honestly, I was pretty sure I was ready to have a breakdown but I came out of that rather quickly. Â We made some quick changes and have been getting to bed by 10:00 pm which has helped a ton! Plus it didn’t hurt that I spent all of Saturday binge watching movies and stuffing my face.
Oh before I forget and just in case you weren’t already aware, the 2017 Nordstrom Anniversary sale opens to the public today! They have so many amazing buys this year and if there is something you have been eyeballing now is the time to snag it while prices are discounted.
I also mentioned how I was having such a hard time choosing a rug for our living area, well I think I may have found it y’all! This room is basically the most difficult to decorate in our home due to a huge double-sided brick fireplace, an entire wall of almost floor to ceiling windows, and a set of big custom built-ins, there is only one wall left to set the sofa. You may be shaking your head right about now and wondering why anyone in their right mind would be bitching about that and I do love each element since it gives our home character but trust me it makes things a bit more difficult when it comes to furniture placement.
So considering all of that I have really been working at a snail’s pace on this room for several reasons. Reason number one is I don’t want to rush the issue and end up scratching my head in a few months wondering why I didn’t do something different. Number two is the fact that this room is the very first thing people see when they come through our front door so I want it to be perfectly “us” and really accentuate our personalities, yes I do that with every room but this one will be getting an extra dose!
Okay, enough chit-chat let’s get this show on the road because I have some wonderful pieces to show you!

Enigma Framed Canvas:Â Â This abstract art is probably my favorite piece I have run across so far. The colors will be absolutely perfect with the palette we chose and I know just the place for it.
Carly Table Lamps: These pair of lamps are just darling and the shape is so modern. Layering is a great way to give your home that designer look and lighting is no exception. The price for these babies is pretty amazing so you cannot go wrong!
Westerland Counter Stool: Our kitchen has a small peninsula and when we moved in I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what style of stools we should get. So instead of choosing something expensive and hating it later, I decided to go with the cheapest option, Craigslist! We found a pair of plain stools and bought them for under $100 for the set and ever since I have been wishing we had something much more modern in the space. The shape and color of this Westerland stool is perfect for the space and comes in the 24″ option.
Striped Indigo & Garden Vine:Â Â If you have yet to check out Studio Mcgee’s online store Mcgee & Co. do it like now! They have so many unique finds and although some of the items are more than I could ever afford they also have plenty that are within budget. Â Lately, I have been loving their line of pillows and the ones above are no exception. I love the way the stripes and floral play off of each other and these are definitely in the running for place on our sofa!
Gray Rug:Â Â After the 2017 rug debacle that is my life, I think I can finally breathe a sigh of relief! For some reason, I had this vision in my head of a navy rug and after trying several I have come to the realization that Navy just isn’t the way to go with this one. It is so easy to get stuck on “the perfect rug” when really the rug is just one player in the game. It doesn’t have to be perfect at all it just has to work and give you what you need from it. In our space I would like to leave a majority of the color to the accessories. With that said once the walls are painted and pillows changed I think this gray rug will work perfectly. Cross your fingers because I may scream if I have to send another one back.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you will stick around so you can go on this crazy journey with us! Also, don’t forget to show some love and pin the image below. If you aren’t following me on Pinterest already you can do that here.
