Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites. Where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way.
This week has been a struggle for me, you see our youngest daughter is finally in the right grade and when I say the right grade I mean the grade where they whisk you off to camp for a week!
It is a nature-themed camp where they hike, mountain climb, horseback ride etc. They sleep in cabins and shoot bow and arrows, all the cool things that us city folk aren’t able to do often.
Really, I am super excited for her and I am very grateful that she will have the experience but… and there’s a big but…. They are not allowed to take phones or any form of electronics.
Insert the mom panic, I am pretty much losing it wondering how on earth she will ever survive a week in the wilderness without being able to at least talk to momma!
Every kind of crazy thought you could possibly think of has entered this brain and I know deep down it will all be fine but that doesn’t stop the worry.
She has stayed away from home with family but never longer than one night with anyone that was not related to her. How will she do? Will she call us wanting to be picked up? Will she climb the mountain without giving up? Where will I find three pairs of old shoes that actually fit?
All of this is what I have been thinking about day in and day out, the anxiety is high y’all!
Yes, I want her to learn and grow and experience but I also want to know how she is taking it all and if she’s okay. So it’s safe to say I will be a ball of nerves for the next three weeks!
Have any of your children ever went off to camp without any form of communication for a week? If so how did you deal with it? Like what on earth will I do with myself you guys?
I mean I can think of tons of things I can and need to accomplish while being kid-free but I always end up a bit stir crazy for some reason. So say a little prayer for your girl. 🙂
This week’s collection has some amazing items that I am dying to get my hands on and I have pretty much picked out a spot for each of them.
Llama Llama: For the longest time I have been searching for the perfect black and white llama print, you see these look amazing in modern homes and I love the whimsy that it adds to the space, you know, just a little something completely unexpected. Animal prints are really killin it and I hope to incorporate this guy someplace where he can shine. Huge plus, it from minted which means the options are really endless when it comes to size and framing options.
Rose Gold Lamp: Blush is one of 2017’s hottest colors and it is going to stick around well into 2018 and this rose gold lamp is the perfect way to add in a pop of color without a big commitment.
Dash & Albert Rug: This beauty is on my list of things to buy because I love the pattern and plan to layer the smaller option under our home sweet home mat at the front door. Layering rugs totally amps up the style factor and you cannot go wrong with buffalo check!
Bogart Bookcase: This one caught my eye immediately with its natural wood tones. I love the way natural wood adds warmth and texture to the home and this is just the color I have been looking for in a console table. Yes, this one is actually a bookcase but there are no reason it can’t be used when decorating the entry.
Farmhouse Crocks: Drumroll please,….. These stoneware crocks are new from Mcgee & Co, they did a collaboration with Farmhouse Pottery to make their very own exclusive line of crocks. Each piece is crafted by hand by the wonderful potters at Farmhouse and I love how they turned out, simple but still elegant. Yes, they do cost more than your average crock but that is because they are anything but average.
Imagine a piece that is durable enough to be passed down for generations and the simple white color will never go out of style. I just love the thought of giving this to my daughter someday and it being in her kitchen when she is a mom. They also have multiple uses, flower pot, planter, utensil holder etc.
Velvet Flats: Here is an extra, when I spotted these on an IG account I follow and I couldn’t resist telling you all about them because let’s be honest, they are darling! Plus guess what? They are under $17.0o at none other than Target! I don’t often talk about beauty or fashion but may start doing so a little more. I mean you guy’s like shoes too, right?
Speaking of Target have you been in the past week or so? If you have you may have noticed their new line Project 62, the line is full of modern pieces and I just happened to stop in last Saturday while preparing for our Fall Front Porch makeover and they were setting up the home decor section with the new products and they are so gorgeous!
In my opinion, Target does an amazing job in the home decor department and it basically enables someone that doesn’t want to spend the money on higher priced items to have the same look for half the cost, which I am all for! So if you haven’t been to Target in a while go check out all of the new Project 62 items or you can view them here, you won’t be disappointed.
Please show some love and pin the image below. 🙂
