Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites. Where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way!
Have you ever allowed things to get out of control? I mean the kind of out of control that there is literally not another square inch to put any more “stuff”.
Our home is currently turned upside down and has been since we started painting the main living area which has made things pretty chaotic, but it has also opened my eyes and made me realize how much “stuff” we actually have.
This is all AFTER we hauled off three truckloads of stuff to the local goodwill.
Lately, my thoughts have gone a little something like this, ” what are you doing?” “you weren’t blessed with this beautiful home so that you could fill it to the brim with material crap ” “You are not cleaning, you are simply moving JUNK from one place to another” How I have allowed things to get to this point is beyond me and I have to get my butt in gear and tackle this before it gets worse or we will never survive Christmas.
So over the next few months, I plan to start going through things as fast as I possibly can. I know I didn’t accumulate all of this (mostly decor items) in a short time period so it most likely will not be a fast process but it needs to happen nonetheless.
I envy the people that have everything organized to a T, down to their pantry and kitchen cabinets. I have never been an organized person and have pretty much struggled with it my entire life. But over the past several weeks I have noticed a change in the way I think about “stuff”.

Somewhere along the way I have convinced myself that this stuff was going to make me happy. If I could just buy this then I would be happy, it is a never-ending cycle and the end result is always the same.
Nothing looks beautiful when there is clutter all around so this is where it ends for me. Even though we are basically moving from one room to the next making each space over as we go, the whole ” Declutter as we go” thing just isn’t working for me.
So starting with the main areas of our home I am going to make my way through everything and toss what I do not love or doesn’t serve us in some way. I think it is going to pretty shocking how much we get rid of and how very little we actually need.
Once we finish I will let you guys know how it went, so be on the lookout for a post about our decluttering journey soon. If you struggle with or are interested in organization Abby at Just a Girl and Her Blog is a great source of inspiration.
Our entryway is coming along now that I have finally decided on some key pieces. We were unable to find the type of console table in the wood tones that I wanted so we have decided to build our own. The gold gooseneck sconces that I ordered are being delivered today and I found the most beautiful vintage rug that I absolutely cannot wait to show you guys. This reveal is going to be gorgeous!
This week’s Friday Favorites collection is inspired by some new colors that I am totally crushing on and a few pieces I have in mind for the entry.
Bull On Blue: This print is so beautiful and quirky to me. I love the unexpectedness of the floral wallpaper in the background. This would look amazing in a dining room or kitchen beside the main eating area. The gold frame just sets the entire thing off.
Mariana Chair: This chair in this color is probably my most favorite chair ever! The color is one of the hottest colors of the year and I love the clean lines and beautiful legs. If you aren’t a fan of this color it comes in about 100 other colors so there is literally one for every style.
Addison Lamp: This lamp would look amazing in a more modern coastal setting, the texture of the base itself will add a little something extra to the space and it comes in several different colors.
Ronda Teak Stool: Originally I had planned on using an upholstered x-leg stool for under the console table but as soon as I spotted this one I loved the thought of adding in this unexpected piece on an otherwise glam entryway. A set of these would even be perfect for extra seating in the living room and the come in under $55.00 a piece which is amazing!
Hayes Leather Floor Tote: This bad boy has me drooling every time I look at it! Cognac colored leather is making a huge comeback lately and a plant or extra blankets would look so good in this. The price is a little more than I like but I try to use a 20% off coupon when possible anytime I’m shopping at Pottery Barn.
This weekend is going to be spent finishing up the entryway and getting as much decluttering done as possible. I want so badly to just snap my fingers and all of the things we don’t need just magically disappear but we all know that will never happen. But hey, a girl can dream, right?
What is the biggest problem area in your home? Is it paper clutter from things like mail or schoolwork? Or maybe the bathroom cabinets full of hygiene products you never use? Tell me all about it, maybe it will make me feel better about my current situation.
