Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites, where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way!
Do you ever have one of those week’s when by Monday around 9 am you are already ready for the weekend? This has been one of those weeks for me and 5 o’ clock Friday cannot get here soon enough!
Now that we have our entryway finished (See our Modern Entryway Makeover here) I have to turn my attention to the Living area because I have totally been dragging my feet. Trying to decide what to do with the double-sided fireplace is giving me heartburn and keeping me awake at night.
When you are dealing with something that gigantic it is really a big deal that it is done right (no pun intended). If we screw this up it will affect the entire space and it is so large that no matter where you’re standing, your eye will instantly be drawn to it.
So basically for the past three months, I have been eyeballing every single fireplace I come across to try and get some inspiration for ours. I want the end result to be bright, modern and clean.

As nervous as I have been to tackle it I know that it must be done and in reality, I think deep down I know it will be gorgeous but I’m just a little uneasy because I am not sure which direction we should go with it.
In the next few weeks, I hope to finalize some plans on the fireplace and get some throw pillow choices nailed down.
So far I have most of the items we plan to use in this makeover already purchased but there are still a few things that need to be decided on like our end tables, console table, different fabric for the ottoman, built in paint color or wallpapered insides, chairs or keep the loveseat, and the dreaded fireplace materials.
I don’t expect this to be a cut and dry process and I am sure there will be tons of changes along the way but I am really excited to finally be done with the space!
After living for months with our entire house in disarray I am beyond ready for it to just be complete. Not only so we can move on to other areas of our home that need our attention but so the first thing you see as soon as you walk in doesn’t look like a disaster.
If you have ever done renovations or even small updates then you know exactly what I am talking about. Your entire world feels like it has been turned upside down and things that normally have a designated place end up on your kitchen table.
Sometimes I just have to remind myself that one day it will all be done!
This week’s Friday Favorites collection is so gorgeous to me and I am pretty much obsessed with the navy and pink combo.
Dark Florals: This print is one of my all-time favorites, not only is it modern but it also adds a feminine touch without going full-on girly. It would look amazing in any area of the home plus it comes from Minted so the framing options and sizes are endless.
Mckay Loveseat: Technically it is called a loveseat but I would totally use this as a bench in an entryway, you could pair it with a beautiful piece of art to create a cozy area to sit while putting on your shoes.
Tassel Lamp: Tassels are all the rage right now and there really is no place you can’t put them, including on a lamp! The brass detailing and gorgeous color make this lamp truly stand out. This could be the perfect pop of color to an otherwise neutral space.
Tan Faux Cowhide: Faux cowhides are the perfect rugs for layering. You can easily pair one over a jute rug to add some style to any space in your home. I love when they are used under round dining tables to add a little something extra.
Avril Coffee Table: This is probably my favorite coffee table, EVER. We are huge ottoman people in our house due to our slight tv addiction so having a comfy place to put our feet up is a must! I love the modern style and of course, the brass is what lured me in.
This weekend I am hoping to get some more decluttering done around the house along with the other two million things we have to do. I would also like to get our front flower bed dug up and mulched before winter gets here and it is too cold.
Earlier in the spring, we had this bright idea to take down the stone pavers around our tree in the front yard and just put down an invisible edge instead. It sounded like a great idea at the time but the entire thing now looks like a giant heap of crap!
All of the grass clippings blow up onto the mulch so the whole thing is pretty much covered with dead grass and the stuff I planted is being taken over by weeds because the blocking paper obviously did not work.
We spent an entire weekend working on our front yard and it sure does stink that we have to do it again but you live and learn right?
