Welcome to this week’s Friday Favorites, where I discuss things from the week that I love or have inspired me in some way. This week has been so crazy busy for us and I have pretty much felt like I am standing on the edge of a cliff four out of five of the days.
We have been working non-stop preparing to hit it hard on our living area this weekend and get all of our Christmas decorations up. This is definitely going to be the most complex part of our home renovation process and I am so torn on which direction we should go but I have officially ran out of time.
That being said here are my current dilemmas, FYI I will take any opinions you all may have into consideration so please offer them up in the comments section.
As most of you know we have a giant brick fireplace and this is one of the two sources of confusion for me, I really don’t want to paint it so here are the options I have come up with.
Option One: Shiplap the top and bottom, covering the hearth with a wainscoting type and tiling the bench area of the hearth.
Option Two: Frame the entire thing out and do the wainscoting look on the entire fireplace.

The second problem we have is we are major tv buffs and with that comes our lovely 75″ tv that is mounted on the fireplace because of the way the room is set up that is the only place for it.
That being said with tv comes surround sound and with both comes tons of wires! So basically right now we have the wires ran down the side of the fireplace and from there to the bottom of the built-ins where we currently have all of our components sitting.
It is so messy looking and I wanted to frame in the bottom of the built-ins so we could have cabinet doors there to hide all of the components and wires. There is just one giant problem…….. The surround sound receiver is too long to fit into the cabinet once it is framed in.
I have spent days wondering what in the world we are going to do with this receiver and how we can make this work. The only thing I have come up with so far is to just move ahead with framing in the bottom and deal with the receiver when we get there.
We have considered moving the receiver into a closet but at this point, I am not sure how all of that would even work as far as ventilation, who to contact for set up, or if we could DIY etc. So if any of you have any experience with this type of thing please feel free to help me out here.
Aside from that everything is on track and I am just waiting on a few more pieces so we can get started putting everything into place. This is going to be some of our best work yet and I am so excited to show you guys.
This week’s Friday Favorites collection has some amazing pieces that are perfect for the upcoming season which usually brings with it cold weather and extra guests.
Roger Club Chair: With the holidays comes extra guests and sometimes you need extra seating for all of those loved ones. Could this chair be any more perfect? It comes in under $300.00 and I absolutely love the color. Such a wonderful way to add a pop of color to your home.
Pom-Pom Throw: As most of you know I am pretty much obsessed with throw blankets, this one is gorgeous and I am so in love with the color. It would not only help on those chilly nights but it would look amazing draped over the back of the sofa when not in use.
Gourd Lamp: Out of all of the beautiful lamps I have come across this style is my favorite. I have several in my own home and the neutral color of this one is perfect for any style.
Eleanor Print: Oil paintings and portraits are making a HUGE comeback and I believe you will be seeing them more and more as we head into the new year. Vintage oil paintings can be very expensive so this print is perfect for those of you that want the look without the high price tag.
This is by far one of my favorite portraits and she has a new resting place on our built-ins. You can also check out the rest of Jenny’s prints while your there, she has some amazing pieces in her shop.
Murphy Basket Set: Baskets are my jam and I cannot get over the metal detail on these. Baskets are wonderful for storage and look pretty at the same time.
Wish us luck with our dilemmas, I hope to have everything ironed out by the time I go back to work on Monday. Who knows, maybe you guys can come up with some good ideas for me this time! 🙂
