Warm and Cozy Christmas
This year has been an absolute rollercoaster and I think it is safe to say that we are all sick of it and ready to move on.
With all of the crazy going on outside of our home it was important to me that we have a beautiful space to come home to. Last year I purchased all new Christmas Ornaments and went with pink, gold, silver, and copper, and basically, if it fit into one of those color categories, I figured out a way to stuff it on the tree! And not much was different this time around.

Oftentimes people will comment and say the nicest things, which is always so flattering but also makes me wonder if they realize that they can have that too.
The one thing to remember when it comes to decorating anything is the fact that the things that stand out aren’t what makes the space envoke a feeling, instead, it is all of those tiny little details that are added later that take it from just a tree to a Christmas moment that literally makes you feel like Christmas when you look at it! Ignoring those little things can leave your space feeling completely flat or like it is lacking something and if you get that feeling then that is your cue.
For this space, it is the presents wrapped with a ribbon, the wood tree stump, and the faux fur throw blanket tucked perfectly under the tree. Those things together create a moment where each and every person can look at the same space and envision themselves sitting there with their family on Christmas morning about to open gifts. That feeling in that moment is the reason I do this, not only for my family but for yours as well.
It instantly brought in a layer of warmth that no other color could have and although I was having second thoughts several times during the decorating process, I stuck it out and the end result was better than I could have imagined. And guess what?….. I bought two packs of ornaments, one $20 box, and one $12 box for the trees, a few packs of $3.00 bottle brush trees and that was it!
Investing in those quality pieces last Christmas that can be used year after year totally paid off and will continue to do so until I decide it is time for an update. So next time you are buying Christmas decor be sure to think long term and look for neutral pieces that you can reuse for your base and then all you will need to do is add in color here and there as needed.
Starting with a great set of base ornaments that you can mix with just about anything will pay off each time that you decorate your tree!
For the mantle, I wanted to try something different than my usual cedar garland and I had been so inspired by Christine at For The Home and her gorgeous use of bottle brush trees in her master bedroom last year that I couldn’t resist adding as many bottle brush trees as I could to our mantle and I love the texture it added to the area!
Across the front of the mantle, I used two glitter-covered garlands and added two bows on each side, one burgundy satin ribbon and my usual black and white ribbon. Layering the bottle brush trees in a staggered way creates dimension and adds texture to the vignette.
Another great tip to give you that magazine-worthy shot, when you decorate for the holidays try to think of it as if you are creating little moments vs redesigning your entire space. Good design doesn’t always have to mean that the entire space is dripping in decor, sometimes just a simple Christmas vignette in an otherwise normal space can have such a huge impact. This year I achieved that by adding in the wrapped presents, a faux fur throw blanket, a basket of logs on one side and a tree stump on the other, then and a faux fur throw. Those pieces are what brings the look to life as opposed to just having the tree decorated and leaving the bottom bare.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
P.S Although I have been on a bit of a hiatus this year, We have still been doing projects and I have documented all of those for you so we will have lots of brand new content very soon. Thank you for being patient with me, I look forward to getting back on schedule.

This is beautiful. You managed to create a modern, chic look despite using a very traditional color. Can’t wait to see what else you’ve been working on!
